Indulgent bathing is by far my favourite beauty category (along with haircare); I love a good pamper session and switch up products regularly so that I can try new things. With that in mind I thought I’d begin a regular Bath & Body series keeping you updated on the products featuring in my bathroom routine (including my current shampoo & conditioner picks). At the moment I’m still loving the Herbal Essences Bee Strong range – I honestly can’t rave enough about these gorgeous-smelling, cheap-as-chips products. Aside from smelling absolutely divine, the thick and creamy formula leaves my hair feeling stronger and healthier with a glossy shine – sunshine in a bottle. I strongly recommend giving these a go if you have dry, damaged hair in need of some TLC.
In keeping with the ‘sunshine’ theme (got to make the most of those summery scents before August is up and autumn comes creeping in), my current shower gel of choice is the Body Shop’s Mango body cleanser – such a lovely fresh, fruity scent, perfect for a morning pick-me-up. The soap-free formula (containing mango seed oil) leaves skin soft and beautifully sniffable. Alongside this I’ve really been enjoying using the Sanctuary Body Scrub; this feels like a real spa treat and the lovely signature Sanctuary scent lingers on the skin for ages afterwards (impossible to describe but pretty much everyone must have received a Sanctuary stocking filler at some point during their lives, so you'll know what I’m talking about). At £5.50 this is a total bargain and will last a good while (I find these more liquid-y body scrubs always last longer because they foam up and go that bit further). Even though this is quite a fine consistency, it still gives good scrub and preps my legs for shaving/self tanning a treat.
I thought I’d pop this Gilette Satin Care with Olay into the mix as well which I picked up recently while doing my weekly cat food and washing up liquid dash around Wilkos. Until recently I was using shower oils for shaving my legs (namely the L’Occitane Almond and No7 Argan offerings) which gave great results, but when these ran out I didn’t quite have the pennies to justify repurchasing. So when I saw this little gold number (containing shea butter no less) on half price, I popped it into my basket. Although the results aren’t as satiny smooth as the shower oils, I am suitably impressed – it definitely gives a close shave and my legs feel super-soft afterwards, especially when followed up with a nourishing body lotion. Highly recommend this – the packaging looks pretty luxurious too which is a bonus for such an affordable product.
Last up, I’ve been employing the Garnier Summer Body lotion post-shower in a last-ditch attempt at a tan before the Great British sun goes in for good (I don’t know who I’m kidding – we all know it basically already has). This was hanging around half-used after my boyfriend decided it wasn’t for him, and I decided to use it up rather than leave it sitting in the beauty archives until next summer. I do really love this for its tropical summer-holiday scent and light yet ultra-moisturising formula, so I’m happy using this up until September hits when I’ll be cracking out some much-loved Soap & Glory body butters.
I’ll probably do posts like this every month or so as I’m forever trying out new things.
What’s currently featuring in your bathroom routine?
