Time for a new favourites post - I think I’ll keep these to five or six items as it’s a nice round number, keeps things simple and prevents me from rambling (much).
Vaseline Cocoa Radiant Spray & Go Body Moisturiser (£4.99)
As a body butter lover, I’ve been religiously body-moisturising after my daily bath or shower for many a year now, but there do still come those lazy days when I just can’t bothered – which is where the Vaseline Spray & Go moisturiser steps in to save the day. Admittedly when I first spotted these on the shelves of Boots I thought ‘gimmick’ and swiftly moved on, but I’ve been forced to eat my words. This lightweight spray is so quick and easy to apply but none-the-less very moisturising, leaving my skin feeling soft and comfortable - as opposed to feeling dry and tight as it does when I skip out on moisturising completely. This sinks in really fast - meaning shimmying into leggings/skinny jeans doesn’t present a problem – and the light cocoa butter scent is really nice and subtle (the body butter in this range is lovely too and such great value). I can see this sticking around as a staple in my body care routine over the winter months to come.
Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Purifying Clay Mask (£5.99)
I’ve always loved Palmer’s, so when their skincare range launched a few years ago I got really excited, saved up my pennies and bought more or less everything (I have a habit of doing that). Sadly, the products didn’t work for me (but they did work for my mum who I passed them on to). A year on, when I spotted this new clay mask in Superdrug I was drawn in all over again – and this time round I have been pleasantly surprised. This green clay mask (containing sweet almond and evening primrose oil, chamomile and aloe vera in addition to menthol and cocoa butter) is super easy to apply from its mess-free squeeze top tube; I apply this to cleansed skin once or twice a week for a bit of a pick-me-up and it leaves my skin soft, clean, clear and glowing. Quick to use, affordable, non-messy, travel-friendly – definitely one to look out for.
Kent Natural Bristle Brush (£6.25)
I've been making an effort to avoid heat-styling and let my hair dry the way god intended - which has been going well - but I couldn't help but feel something was missing. The answer: A natural bristle hairbrush. I tend to wash my hair in the early evening, slap on some leave-in conditioner and hope it dries by the time I go to bed. By around 9pm its dry for the most part but the mid-lengths and ends tend to be a bit unruly, and I was finding myself reaching for a nice smoothing bristle brush - something I didn't own. A quick browse around Boots on my lunch break uncovered a host of natural wooden bristle brushes by Kent - and after much umming and ahhing I decided to go for this adorable miniature number. This does a good job of calming the frizz (though I'm thinking now that I'd have been better off with something slightly larger and more heavy duty); I can see this little beauty taking up residence in my work handbag for smoothing my locks on the go.
Nivea Vanilla & Macadamia Lip Butter (£2.25)
I’d been meaning to try these new Nivea lip butters for a while when I finally picked up the Vanilla & Macadamia version recently (definitely my kind of scent). I’m quite picky when it comes to lip balms, especially cheap ones, but this really appealed to me. It’s quite a thick, creamy consistency and though it does tend to sit on top of the lips instead of sinking in fully, it does feel nice and moisturising (and of course smells delicious). I find myself reaching for this after a bath or shower (when my lips always seem to feel dry) as well as in the evenings before bed. Talking of which, I’ve been rubbing the Badger Sleep Balm (which I mentioned in my Evening Essentials post) onto wrists and temples at night and really do feel it’s been helping me to sleep (things have been super hectic recently so I have been having some trouble drifting off).
Body Shop Almond Nail & Cuticle Oil (£7) & Bourjois So Laque Glossy in BC Beige (£5.99)
Lastly, a couple of nail care items I’ve been loving lately. With the change in weather, I’ve packed away my summer brights in favour of sophisticated nudes and muted jades (more on them another day) and one I’ve found myself reaching for a lot (and getting quite a few compliments on) is this Bourjois polish in BC Beige (no idea what the BC stands for). This is such a lovely stone-grey icecream nude which gives a really elegant and groomed look to slightly longer nails. A product I’ve been enjoying using in conjunction with this is the Body Shop Almond Nail & Cuticle Oil; which is again so easy and mess-free to use and can be used to soften and nourish cuticles on either bare or painted nails.
What have you been loving recently?
