Current Haircare

I’ve been trialling a lot of new haircare items recently, so while I won’t be doing a full haircare routine post just yet, I thought I would share with you a couple of products that I’ve been enjoying using recently.

Although I’ve got several other shampoos on the go at the moment, this is the one I’ve been using day-to-day and really loving. Why? This mild pure-aloe formula promises soft, shiny, manageable hair by maintaining healthy hair and scalp; and while I have noticed a difference in the condition and softness of my hair, what I love most is that this makes my hair clean. A god send for removing product build-up, the need for dry shampoo fixes is greatly reduced when I use this; I can actually go a whole three days between washes (virtually unheard of in my world). Before I started using this my hair was looking decidedly lacklustre and in need of some TLC and this has definitely helped it back on track! The accompanying Conditioning Rinse is equally lovely, helping to keep my dry ends in check and adding some much needed shine.

I mentioned being disappointed when I purchased this because it didn’t have the distinct Aussie scent that I love, and also wasn’t as intensive as my beloved original 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor, but I’ve learnt to work with and (dare I say) love this. The great thing about this is, while the majority of conditioners are too heavy to apply anywhere near the hairline/scalp, this is so light (for me anyway) that I can really slap it on and not have to worry about it making my hair greasy. About once a week I apply this to lengths and ends of just-washed towel-dried hair, comb through with my tangle teezer and leave for 5 minutes before rinsing off - hey presto! super-shiny, sweet-smelling, swishy hair.

I originally picked this up from Boots because I needed something to apply to my hair when I’m letting it dry naturally. I own heat protection sprays, balms and creams galore, but for those occasions that I’m going au naturel I wanted something that would soften, condition and encourage my hair to dry nicely (and not into the unruly tangle I’m usually left to deal with), and this little tube ticks all of those boxes and more. Naked is an affordable, natural, SLS-free brand that can be found in larger Boots stores and supermarkets. All of their products smell great (I love the coco de mer bodycare range) and this leave in conditioner, containing shea butter and argan oil, is no exception. This wonder product tames any frizz in an instant, whether applied to damp or dry hair, leaving a lovely sheen and gorgeous shea butter scent. It also protects from heat for days when I am using my hairdryer (hurrah!), and all for just over £4. (For some reason this isn’t listed on the Boots website, but I did find it in store  - so if you like the sound of this I suggest heading down to your nearest larger Boots STAT!)

What are using on your hair at the moment?
